Privacy Policy — What We Collect and What We Don't

Privacy policy

This page explains what happens to your information when you use this site. It describes what we actually do, not what a template says a website might do.

The short version. We do not sell your data, we do not run advertising trackers, and we do not require an account to read anything. Every page on this site is readable without giving us a single piece of personal information. If you email us or subscribe to updates, we keep what you sent us and nothing more.

What we collect

When you just read the site. We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are read. This sets cookies in your browser and sends Google an abbreviated version of your IP address, your approximate location (usually city or state level), your device type and browser, the pages you view, and the site you arrived from. We use it to understand which pages are useful. We do not use it to build a profile of you, and we do not run remarketing or advertising audiences.

This site is served through Cloudflare, which processes technical request data — including your full IP address — to deliver pages and to block attacks and abusive traffic. This is a security necessity rather than a choice; without it the site would be trivially easy to take offline.

When you send us a message. The contact form collects your email address, your name if you choose to give it, and your message. Your name is optional; the email address is required so we can reply. This is sent to us by email through Resend, our email provider.

When you subscribe to updates. We collect your email address only. No name, no other field.

When you buy an advertising placement. Payments are processed by Stripe. Stripe collects and holds the payment details — we never see or store your card number. We receive the business name, the placement purchased, and a confirmation that payment succeeded.

What we do not collect

We do not ask for, and have no way to receive, any information about your health, your prescriptions, your medications, or your medical history. There is no symptom checker, no eligibility quiz and no patient intake form on this site, deliberately. The "Quick Check" tool runs entirely in your browser and sends nothing to us — your answers never leave your device.

We do not track you across other websites. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information to anyone. We do not use your message to add you to a mailing list; subscribing is a separate, explicit action.

Each of these is an independent company with its own privacy policy, and some process data outside Australia. Where information is handled overseas it may be subject to the laws of that country, and we cannot control that beyond choosing reputable providers.

How long we keep things

Contact messages are kept while we deal with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you follow up. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained according to Google's settings, which are measured in months, not indefinitely. Payment records are kept as long as Australian tax and business records law requires.

Cookies

The only cookies this site sets are Google Analytics cookies used to count visits and distinguish one visitor from another. There are no advertising cookies. You can block or delete them in your browser settings, or use your browser's Do Not Track or private browsing mode. Blocking them will not break anything on this site — every page works fine without them.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles you can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, and unsubscribe from anything you have subscribed to. Email us using the contact form and we will action it within a reasonable time and confirm when it is done. There is no charge and you do not need to give a reason.

Every newsletter email includes a one-click unsubscribe link. It works immediately.

If something goes wrong

If we become aware of a data breach that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, contact us first — and if we cannot resolve it, you can complain to the OAIC at oaic.gov.au.

Changes

If we change what we collect or add a new provider, we will update this page and change the date below. We will not quietly start collecting something new and leave this page saying otherwise.
