Can I Drive With a Medicinal Cannabis Prescription in Tasmania?

Tasmania is the exception: under s6A(2) of the Road Safety (Alcohol and Drugs) Act 1970, a defence exists where the cannabis medicine was obtained and administered in accordance with Tasmania's Poisons Act 1971 — the only jurisdiction in Australia where prescribed THC presence can be lawful behind the wheel. The catch: courts have held this requires a Tasmania-issued prescription dispensed in Tasmania, so a mainland telehealth script doesn't qualify. Impaired driving remains an offence, and the protection stops at the border. How the defence works → Tasmania hub.
